Coach Maggie Tursi

Maggie has an extensive and varied competitive running background.  She specializes in middle to long distance on the track, cross country, and road races ranging from one mile to the marathon.

After playing field hockey her first three years of high school, Maggie decided to join her twin sister on the cross country team her senior year.  During her only high school cross country season, Maggie earned all-state honors and her team won the all-group state championship.  On the track, Maggie earned high school All-American honors as part of the national champion distance medley relay team.

Maggie was a two-time All-American at Boston College and was the team captain her junior and senior years.  During her 5th year of eligibility, Maggie ran cross-country and track at the University of Wisconsin-Madison while pursuing her MBA.

She led Boston College to 4th and 6th place team finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championship.  The team’s 4th place at the NCAA Cross Country Championship is the best national finish by any women’s varsity sport at Boston College.  Maggie’s 10th and 13th place individual finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championship are the 2nd and 3rd highest individual finishes in Boston College history.

After college, Maggie joined the New York Athletic Club running team and continued to run competitively while working full-time on the investment team at Real Estate Capital Partners.  The highlight of her post-college running career was being selected to represent Team USA at the 2009 NACAC Cross Country Championship.

Maggie has run 14 marathons.  She was self-coached to her first 2:54 marathon.  Maggie was the 2nd American female finisher at the 2010 London Marathon, the 18th American female finisher at the 2009 NYC Marathon, the 23rd American female finisher at the 2008 NYC Marathon and the 25th American female finisher at the 2004 NYC Marathon.  Nine months after the birth of her first child, Maggie was the 8th female finisher at the 2013 Walt Disney World Marathon.

Maggie also specializes in shorter distances on the roads.  She ran a 4:50.15 mile at the Fifth Avenue Mile in 2010 and a 16:58 5k at the Pier Village 5k in 2009.  Maggie won the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge in Central Park in 2009 and 2011.  She was nominated for NYRR Runner of the Year for her age-group in 2009, 2010 and 2013 and earned a spot in NYRR's elite President's circle.

Maggie has had the opportunity to be mentored by several top national running coaches including Kathy Fleming and Randy Thomas (at Boston College), the legendary Peter Tegen (at the University of Wisconsin), Pete Squires and Brad Hudson (post-college).  She's also led training groups at several running camps including Sub-5 Running Camp, Newport Running Camp and Green Mountain Running Camp.

Maggie is the mother of three girls and continues to run (often pushing a double jogging stroller alongside Aileen).
